• Parking permits

  The is now live.

  All faculty, staff, and students are eligible to purchase parking permits. All permits are valid for the academic year, and each year a new one will need to be purchased.

  When a permit has been assigned to you and is ready to be picked up, you will receive an email. Permits can be picked up at Public Safety in Sorin Hall 101. New incoming students: You will also receive an email when a permit is assigned to you, but your pass will be handed out with your student ID during move-in and Fall Orientation check-in.

  Prices for all permit types are as follows:

  • Student Surface Lot Pass - $292/year
    • Charged as a one-time payment to your student account in fall semester
    • Allows access to any lot on campus, as long as parked in valid parking spot
  • Student Apartments Garage Pass - $533/year
    • Charged as a one-time payment to your student account in fall semester
    • Allows access to the Student Apartments underground parking ramp as well as any lot on campus, as long as parked in valid parking spot
    • To apply for this pass you MUST be a resident of this building
    • These passes are in limited supply and will be given out on a first-come-first-serve basis
  • Graduate Student Surface Lot Pass - $103/year
    • Charged as a one-time payment to your student account in fall semester
    • Allows access to any lot on campus, as long as parked in valid parking spot
    • To apply for this pass you MUST be registered as a graduate student
  • Staff/Faculty Anderson Ramp Pass - $666/year
    • Paid through monthly payments of $67 for the months of August through May
    • Allows card access to the Anderson ramp, as well as any lot on campus, as long as parked in valid parking spot
  • Staff/Faculty Surface Lot Pass - $410/year
    • Paid through monthly payments of $42 for the months of August through May
    • Allows access to any lot on campus, as long as parked in valid parking spot
  • Adjunct Faculty/Part-Time Coaches - $36/semester
    • Charged once at the beginning of each semester
    • Allows access to any lot on campus, as long as parked in valid parking spot

  Permits are the property of �鶹��ƵAPK and may not be transferred or re-sold. A permit does not guarantee you a parking space.

  While parked on campus, parking permits must be displayed on the rearview mirror. Ensure the permit is visible from outside of the vehicle and is facing your windshield so officers can see your permit type and number. If you change vehicles or your license plate changes, you must update your vehicle information with Public Safety.

• Registering a vehicle without a parking permit

  If you are not interested in purchasing a parking permit but plan to drive a vehicle and park off-campus, �鶹��ƵAPK Public Safety requires you to register your vehicle information with their department in case of emergency.  

  �鶹��ƵAPK Public Safety works with the Saint Paul Police Department to enforce parking around campus, and in some cases, Saint Paul Police need to get in contact with owners of vehicles parked off-campus. In these cases, �鶹��ƵAPK Public Safety needs the owner and vehicle information so that they can be contacted. .

Parking information

• Abandoned vehicles

  An unregistered vehicle left unattended on campus for more than 14 days will be considered abandoned and will be removed from University property at the owner's expense.

• Anderson ramp validation

  A new system has been put in place which allows the Anderson Front Desk Staff to validate the actual tickets that come from the ramp. Guests will pull a ticket when they drive into the ramp, bring that with them to the front desk, and let front desk staff know which department has approved their validation. Front desk staff will verify that through the responses on the form and then validate the ticket. At the end of each month, that department will be billed for tickets they validated at a cost of $2 per ticket. 

  Due to the limited parking in the ramp, event validation tickets should be submitted for 20 guests or under. Departments looking to provide parking for larger groups of people should reach out to Parking to request a full surface lot suspension. • Campus speed limit

  15 miles per hour speed limit on campus. Drive with courtesy; there are numerous pedestrians.

• Parking enforcement

  Verbal or physical harassment of any person responsible for enforcing parking policy on campus is a violation of university policy and cause for disciplinary action. .

• Parking permit overnight hours

  A �鶹��ƵAPK parking permit must be displayed at all times to park in any parking lot on campus overnight.

  If you are traveling on �鶹��ƵAPK-related business, or if you need to park overnight for student athletics or other organizations, you may do so after obtaining approval from the Director of Public Safety. This includes those who want to park in the Anderson Center ramp. Requests should be sent to security@hamline.edu.

• Parking permit payment

  Student parking permits will be billed to student accounts. These charges will be posted to a student's account each semester. Students who pick up a parking permit during the semester will not receive a discount and will still be charged the full price of a semester permit. Refunds will not be available.

  Staff and full-time faculty permits will be charged by a monthly post-tax payroll deduction. Payment will not be billed until a permit has been issued. Refunds are not available.

  Adjunct faculty and part-time coaches will be charged a one-time payment at the beginning of each semester.

  For staff and faculty: Parking permit fees are a post-tax payment. By electing to make a payroll deduction, you are committing to this post-tax payment.

• Parking services

  Public Safety can assist community members with jump starts, vehicle unlocks, putting air in tires, and the use of traction pads and shovels for stuck vehicles. Please contact Public Safety if you are in need of assistance.

• Parking violation appeals

  Parking violations may be appealed by completing a  within 10 business days of the date the ticket was issued. Begin the parking appeal process as soon as possible. Upon completion, you will receive a copy of your appeal. Incomplete appeal forms or those that don't include a copy of the ticket will not be considered.

  PDF parking appeal forms are available at �鶹��ƵAPK Public Safety, located in Sorin Hall, room 101. The appeal must be delivered to the Public Safety Office with a copy of the parking ticket being appealed to be considered.

  The Assistant Director of �鶹��ƵAPK Public Safety will review appeals that have been submitted. The decisions of the director are final. Decision notifications are sent via email. All fines upheld by Public Safety for students will be added on to their Workday account. All fines upheld by Public Safety for Staff and Faculty will need to be paid within ten days to the Cashiers Office located in East Hall.

• Snow emergencies

  Campus snow emergencies

  During campus-wide snow emergencies, a notification will be sent out through �鶹��ƵAPK ALERT. Individuals on campus for any reason are strongly encouraged to sign up for �鶹��ƵAPK ALERT by going to Piperline and selecting �鶹��ƵAPK ALERT in the personal information tab. Select both “emergency” and “outreach” to ensure that you receive all campus-wide communications.

  During a campus snow emergency, all vehicles parked on campus must be moved in accordance with instructions provided at that time. Note that City of Saint Paul snow emergencies are different than campus snow emergencies and �鶹��ƵAPK Public Safety has no control over city-issued snow emergencies.

  City of Saint Paul snow emergencies

  Snow emergencies may be declared by the City of Saint Paul. Call 651-266-PLOW (7569) if you are unsure where to park. You may also download the . If you are parked on a city street during a snow emergency, your vehicle is subject to ticketing and towing. All vehicles tagged and towed in a snow emergency are taken to the police department’s impound lot located on Como Avenue, two blocks west of Snelling Avenue, across the street from the State Fairgrounds. Snow emergency maps of area streets are available on the city of Saint Paul website.

  It is your responsibility to read and understand the university parking policy prior to bringing a vehicle on campus. Failure to do so can result in a ticket and could also result in the vehicle being towed at owner's expense. Be a safe and courteous driver.

• Special situations

  Accommodations can be made during special circumstances with the authorization of the Parking Department. Please call the Public Safety office at 651-523-2100 or email parking@hamline.edu. 

• Summer parking

  You may park in surface lots without a permit during the summer (from Commencement to the start of fall classes).

• Tickets, fines, and towing

  �鶹��ƵAPK Public Safety Services will patrol all university property for the purpose of enforcing policies, providing general aid and assistance, and crime prevention. Vehicles parked in violation of the parking policy may be ticketed and/or towed. Please refer to the full parking policy (view on Policies page) that will include a full list of parking fines

  A vehicle may be towed at the owner's expense when a third or subsequent violation has been issued. The registered owner of the vehicle or person to whom the �鶹��ƵAPK parking permit is issued is responsible for all costs incurred when the vehicle is towed. �鶹��ƵAPK and Public Safety reserves the right to tow a vehicle based upon circumstances, regardless of the number of previous violations. For example, vehicles may be towed immediately if improperly parked in reserved spaces, handicap spaces or fire lanes.

  If the registered owner of the vehicle is not the current operator of the vehicle, the operator of the vehicle will be charged with all parking tickets acquired while the operator is using the vehicle. If Public Safety cannot identify the operator, then the registered owner will receive the tickets.

  The Saint Paul Police Department has jurisdiction over city streets, all fire lanes and handicap parking spaces, even if these spaces are located on private property. Therefore, you may also receive a ticket from, or be towed by, the City of Saint Paul. �鶹��ƵAPK Public Safety is not responsible for any tickets or tows performed by the city. It is the responsibility of the registered owner of the vehicle to resolve all tickets and tows given by the city.

• Visitor parking

  Visitor parking is located in the Anderson Center Ramp on Englewood Avenue and is available from 7 a.m. through 11 p.m., Monday through Sunday. Parking in the Anderson Center is by the hour and is $2 per hour with a maximum charge of $24. A lost ticket charge will also be $24. Special arrangements may be made by contacting the Parking Department at parking@hamline.edu.
