The recent STEM alumni career and networking event, hosted by �鶹��ƵAPK Initiative for Professional and Academic Liaisons (HIPAL), connected 200 students across various disciplines, including biology, chemistry and physics, with 30 STEM alumni.

Caity Curry, assistant professor of criminology, published a book review in Contemporary Sociology examining the Jailer’s Reckoning: How Mass Incarceration Is Damaging America by Kevin Smith. The review examines the author's analysis of the rise of mass incarceration in the United States.

The �鶹��ƵAPK Initiative for Professional and Academic Liaisons Career Mentoring Program hosted a Linkedin workshop in February and an interview skills workshop March 20. Both workshops were led by mentors from the �鶹��ƵAPK School of Business Career Mentoring Program, supported by HIPAL CMP mentors, highlighting strong interdisciplinary collaboration and expanding the program’s reach and impact.

Curt Lund, associate professor in digital and studio arts, presented at an international roundtable for the Society of Architectural Historians on March 27. His presentation, "Alexey Brodovitch and the 1925 Paris Exposition as Launchpad," explored the absence of American design and designers at the exposition and highlighted the award-winning work of emerging multidisciplinary designer Brodovitch.

Megan Foley, assistant professor of forensic science, and her students volunteered, networked with national and local professionals and attended presentations from speakers across the U.S. at the inaugural spring conference for the International Association of Coroners & Medical Examiners in early March

The Office of Inclusive Excellence hosted �鶹��ƵAPK’s second roundtable of the semester, “Engaging and Learning Across Religious Differences,” brought faculty, staff and speakers together to explore cross-faith collaboration, service and shared values. Rabbi Esther Adler, associate chaplain of Jewish life, and Leah Patton, executive director of the Joint Religious Legislative Coalition (JRLC) highlighted interfaith engagement, advocacy and the importance of learning from diverse perspectives.

Stacie Bosley, professor of economics, presented at the Federal Trade Commission Conference on Marketing and Public Policy held March 19-20 in Washington D.C.

Michelle Benegas, a �鶹��ƵAPK School of Education and Leadership faculty member, led a two-day workshop on language of identity, language of access (LILA) for educators in the Hawaiʻi Department of Education. The session covered historical multilingual education trends, academic language foundations, linguistically sustaining instruction and practical tools like PATs (Practical Applications of Theory) for building students’ linguistic capital while valuing their home languages.​ This is Benegas's sixth year collaborating with the Hawai’i Department of Education.

The Community Roundtables, hosted by Vice President for Inclusive Excellence David Everett, provide students, faculty, and staff a chance to engage in discussions. The 2026 academic year sessions include political, religious, and racial and gender differences.
